What is the emergency response time in rural areas?

“...ambulance service has declined as the population dwindles. The study, from the Maine Rural Health Research Center, said half of those living in ambulance deserts are in rural areas, more than 25 minutes from an ambulance station.”

Rural Response Initiative

Rural Response App

Rural Response is an emergency alert app for people living in sparsely populated areas.

Our goal is to connect neighbors and friends who don’t have timely access to emergency services to allow them to help each other.

The Rural Response app allows for emergency alerts and informational alerts to be broadcast to other users of the app within a predefined geographic area.

The app does not replace or compete with 911. Instead, it is an additional tool that will allow people to potentially receive additional assistance faster than emergency services can respond.

Emergency Alert vs. Informational Alert

Emergency Alerts

Informational Alerts

Informational Alerts

An Emergency Alert is defined as anything where you or someone else’s life may be in danger immediately. Anything that you would call 911 for would be an appropriate use of the Emergency Alert function.

Informational Alerts

Informational Alerts

Informational Alerts

An Informational Alert is defined as anything that you’d like your surrounding community to be aware of, that is not, necessarily, an immediate threat to someone’s life.
